Yad Vashem, Legacy Campus

  • Yad Vashem, Legacy Campus

Yad Vashem’s Legacy Campus and Collections Center are designed to store and display various items that represent the precious memories of Holocaust survivors. Electra Danko, in partnership with Electra M&E, was selected to construct this project from the steel frame stage to final fitout work, including various special and complex systems. The project is a particularly delicate one from an architectural perspective and its design was selected through a architectural competition launched by Yad Vashem. As a result, it features an architectural concept of the very highest standard alongside the most meticulous fitout work.

A gallery will be established on the Legacy Campus to display items from the collections, alongside advanced preservation labs and an auditorium. The focus of the new campus will be the Collections Center, where artworks and diverse items, including archival materials, will be stored under innovative conditions. The Collections Center will contain four underground levels with an entrance hall, a reception and registration station, a catalog station, a digitization room, special laboratories for preservation and copying, as well as storage areas. These storage areas will be equipped with advanced systems for climate control, air filtration, firefighting, security, and safety. The state-of-the-art preservation laboratories will serve a wide range of preservation needs, thus providing a solution for the variety of materials from which the items archived in the

    Collection Center are made.
